When You’ve Tried Everything and Still Don’t Feel Like Yourself

Somatic Experiencing therapy if you are tired of coping and ready to heal.

You may have arrived here with a story and perhaps with wounds that need attention.

Sometimes those stories don't have words, and the wounds are silent and invisible.

At Lotus Lane, I listen to the story your body has to tell. I help you tune into its wisdom so experiences can shift, and patterns that keep you stuck can loosen. Healing is a process of growth and cultivating resilience – it happens when you feel seen, supported, and connected.

This is a space to slow down, notice, and reconnect with yourself. Whether you're seeking relief from stress, trauma, or repeating patterns, it's a place to explore, heal, and cultivate resilience and growth at your own pace.

I'm a certified Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner, trained to work with how the body holds experience, stress, and trauma. This training informs all of the work we do together at Lotus Lane.

Hi, I'm Nelofer.

I’m a therapist and certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner based in Panama City, Florida. I work with clients across the U.S. who are navigating trauma, chronic stress, and nervous system dysregulation — especially those who’ve already tried other routes and are still searching for relief.

My approach bridges counseling, movement, and body-based awareness. For years, I tried to think my way through healing. It wasn’t until I discovered somatic work that my symptoms began to change. After just a few sessions, I knew I had found the missing piece. Since then, I’ve been helping others access that same transformation.

My Specialties

1

Somatic Counseling

Somatic Counseling for Individuals & Couples is a body-based, relational approach that supports individuals and couples in slowing down, reconnecting, and working with patterns that feel stuck or repetitive. Grounded in an understanding of how the body holds relational history, this work focuses on present-moment experience rather than diagnosis or pathology. By gently including the body alongside thoughts and emotions, clients develop greater self-trust, clearer boundaries, and more connected, sustainable relationships.
2

Somatic Experiencing

Somatic Experiencing® Therapy is a gentle, body-based approach to trauma therapy that focuses on regulating the nervous system rather than revisiting overwhelming memories. By helping you notice, tolerate, and release physical sensations where stress and trauma are held, somatic therapy supports the body’s natural capacity to restore balance, resilience, and a felt sense of safety.
3

Co-Regulating Touch

Co-Regulating Touch Therapy is a consent-based, body-centered approach that supports nervous system regulation through safe, attuned connection. Rooted in early human development, this relational form of somatic therapy helps address how emotional and physical pain are held in the body—restoring a sense of safety, belonging, and self-trust.
4

Consulting

Somatic Experiencing® Case Consultation is offered for SE students and practitioners seeking skilled support in applying somatic trauma therapy principles with confidence and precision. These individualized consultations focus on case conceptualization, nervous system assessment, and refining SE-informed interventions for clinical or bodywork settings. As an approved provider for both Beginning and Intermediate Level SE credit, consultations support both professional development and ethical, embodied practice.

Client Testimonials

Read what some of my clients and students have to say about my work!

"Nelofer has done wonders for me with her consistently insightful, unconditionally caring presence. She balances this with deep respect and confidence in my own inner wisdom and wholeness. I’ve gotten a certain level of help from my 30 years in counseling with some wonderful therapists. However, the focus tended to be on the “problem". Nelofer’s focus is on what is happening right now. We’ve done a lot of work with how my nervous system presents and affects my physical and emotional being in the present. Nothing is labeled a problem or abnormal. It is just a direct experience described as pleasant, unpleasant or neutral.

I was introduced to some simple, effective tools for regulating my nervous system, adding to a steadily increasing sense of empowerment and acceptance of myself. Feeling safe and valued allows me to be, to speak, and to express from a depth not accessible to me before I worked with Nelofer. She has helped me recover a healthiness of mind, heart, and spirit that I didn’t know was possible."

"I started seeing Nelofer about almost two years ago once a week for Somatic Experiencing therapy. We have done extensive work on my nervous system and it has made a lot of my POTS symptoms much better. She has given me the tools to help rewire my system so that I am able to manage my lightheadedness, vision changes, and heart rate changes. During our sessions we have also done work on childhood trauma and attachment work. I am so grateful for her and the work that we have accomplished. I truly feel like I have grown so much for the better because of her and her work. I highly recommend her for anyone that may be suffering from childhood trauma or any form of dysautonomia.”

"I found Nelofer at the perfect time. I had just started my Somatic Experiencing Practitioner Training and she was the closest Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. I was thrilled to be within driving distance to her, especially since she was the first SEP in the Panhandle of Florida. I was excited and nervous for our first session. Nelofer put me at ease immediately. She not only is a kind, empathetic and skilled practitioner, but she is also extremely knowledgeable as well, without being pretentious (that is very important for me in building trust). I continue to be so grateful that not only is she only two hours away from me (the drive is worth it!), but she is the practitioner I have been wanting for a very long time. I've been in therapy for decades and am also a trauma therapist myself.

There has been much progress in my recovery, but Somatic Experiencing has put pieces together that I didn't know were missing--even with decades of working on myself. Nelofer is intuitive and patient and so easy to connect with. The therapeutic alliance is such an important container and within a few weeks I felt completely safe opening up very vulnerable parts of my life with her. The process feels like science magic and works in very subtle ways. I'm so excited to continue this journey of integration with her. She is fully trustworthy and I highly recommend her to anyone who is just starting to process things that are unresolved, or people who have been at it for a long time and feel stuck in areas that don't seem to budge. I feel a re-energized hope as I move forward in life and she is a big part of helping that happen."

"What an unexpected and welcome blessing it has been for me to discover and work with Nelofer Childress. As a former psychotherapist, I have over time become keenly aware of how essential it is to heal and address emotions at the level of the body. No talk therapy can touch and open and release trauma with this particular kind of depth. And all of us have experienced the alarm system of trauma. It is a part of how we are wired for survival. In these often confusing and chaotic times, what could be more valuable than giving our bodies the tools they need to heal, to be grounded, joyful, clear minded and fully resourced to meet challenges.

The knowledge and training and heart that Nelofer brings to every session is always fresh, arising and flowing from the interactions in the moment. I come away feeling really open and tender and strong. There is a sweet spot where all these qualities come together. She is a well trained yogi and a well trained somatic therapist. What a combination! No cookie cutter solutions. I thought when I first met her in person before Covid-19, that she was a hidden treasure and an absolute gift to our community. Now that she is offering classes, group and individual sessions online, the sphere of blessing is greatly expanded. And so, many of us can learn the beautiful skills of resilience together."

"Nelofer’s yoga, meditation and somatic experience guidance has made me a happier person. I started seeing Nelofer in 2019 with significant and long term back pain. She taught me how to do yoga and my back pain went away within 6 months. Nelofer then addressed my anxiety; first through meditation and then through somatic experiencing. Inner peace takes focus. Nelofer is an effective guide that can help you reach that goal. I am a much calmer more content person thanks to Nelofer. I highly recommend her work to anyone experiencing physical or mental pain."

"I have been practicing yoga with Nelofer since 2017. I have taken both private and group classes with Nelofer in the studio setting and more recently in a Zoom Chat format. I had not been able to commit to a yoga practice prior to finding a teacher like Nelofer. I enjoy practicing with Nelofer for many reasons but I think it is worth mentioning that she always provides detailed instruction and feedback, provides modifications, is able to make everyone feel comfortable and always creates a fun and welcoming atmosphere. Nelofer’s prices are also extremely fair for the expertise she brings to the table."

"Nelofer’s approach to Somatic Experiencing has been so beneficial and healing. Her professionalism and supportive demeanor helps convey safety and peace so needed when dealing with difficult traumatic experiences. I feel so much more present and alive through the healing I have found."
